Beast Blood Pellet ❘ 獣血の丸薬

Consumable

In-Game Description

Large medicinal pellets, supposedly formed of coagulated
beast blood. Banned by the Healing Church due to their
unclear origin. Grants a spurt of beasthood.

Ripping apart the flesh of one's enemies and being rained
upon by their splattering blood invigorates one's sense of
beasthood, feeding strength and euphoric feeling alike.
Note 1: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓
Note 2: Original Japanese text on Original Japanese Item Index page. ✓

Effects

  • These pellets temporarily awaken your inner beast and increase your attack power for 60 seconds. While under their influence, each successive hit will build up your beast gauge. Your physical attack power will increase depending on how much you fill your beast gauge; but be warned that your defense will fall as well. There are six levels of attack bonus; check out the table.
  • Note that the maximum level you can reach is limited by your character's Beasthood stat. Equipping certain attire will increase it and having high Insight decreases it. If you want to maximize your Beasthood, you'll want to keep 0 Insight Consider equipping the Ashen Hunter Garb - it has the highest Beasthood of any attire.
  • Having a high maximum doesn't help much if you can't fill your gauge, though. Attacks fill the gauge, but it automatically depletes over time, (R1) attacks don't fill the gauge much; (R2) attacks are generally better for this purpose. Multi-hit attacks also do well. The best weapon in the game for filling the meter when using Beast Blood Pellets is Logarius' Wheel; the transformed mode's (R2) attack fills the gauge very rapidly. The downside is that Beasthood only benefits physical attack power, while the Logarius' Wheel deals a lot of arcane damage, You can actually swap to another weapon after filling the gauge, though! You won't lose your Beasthood for swapping weapons if you used a pellet. Choose your favorite physical weapon and have it equipped in a quick-change slot.
  • You might think to use the Beast Claw in combination with the Beast Blood Pellets, but there is no benefit in doing so. The transformed state that enables you to increase your beast gauge does not stack with the pellets' effect. It is, however, worth using Radiant Gems to reduce the stamina costs of your attacks. The Anti-Clockwise Metamorphosis Rune to increase your stamina also helps. This will enable you to keep attacking and get as much damage out of your beast-state as possible. The Beast Embrace rune also augment your transformed state.
  • Use these pellets whenever you want to do more damage and don't expect to be hit much; co-op with an NPC or another player is a perfect time to try them out. Let the other player get the boss's attention, and then let loose! The more you can attack, the better. Unleash the beast!
  • Arti on BL4 Use: The defense debuff from Beast Blood Pellets only affects your base defense, and not the resistances you get from your armor. Your base defense goes up as you level up, which means the higher your level - the riskier using Beast Blood Pellets get. For example, if you have 200 base defense and a full Beasthood Meter, your defense will get decreased to 40 because it's an 80% decrease (but you'll still have your armor resistances untouched - still, the increase in damage taken is noticeable). Thankfully, at BL4 you have very small base defense to begin with (10), which means that the reduction from it will barely affect you at all! To put it into numbers, just know that by just having your Beasthood Meter barely showing up, you’ll already have a 20% damage increase with the downside of having 20% defense decrease, but in endgame that will mean a 60 attack increase for the price of 2 less defense. It is that ridiculously broken, and it gets worse. At full bar, you get 70% damage increase with the downside of having 80% defense decrease, which at 301 base damage (what you’ll have for the majority of endgame) that means a 210 attack increase for the price of 8 less defense.
  • Self Buff Limitation: Just as you can apply only one buff for the weapons, you cannot have more than one self buff active at the same time. Only exception is Beasthood generated by the Beast Claw. Therefore you can't combine effects of the items such as Arcane Items Messenger's Gift and Old Hunter Bone. Consumables Beast Blood Pellet, Blue Elixir, Lead Elixir and even special blood vials with self buff effect like Blood of Adeline, Blood of Adella, Blood of Arianna. So beware when going into the fight that you can't use two of before mentioned items and "cannot use" animation will be performed when trying so which can cost you the fight.

  • Each successive hit will build up your beast gauge, R2 charge and transforming ATKs fill it faster.
  • Best weapon to fill up meter is Logarius' Wheel [R2], problem is beasthood powers up Phys. ATKs and Logarius' Wheel deals Arcane DMG, you can swap weapons once meter is full [wont lose meter].
  • Using Beast Blood Pellets and Beast Claw has no benefits [does not stack].
  • Maximum level you can reach is limited by your character's Beasthood Stat.
  • Equipping certain attire [Ashen Hunter Garb] will increase it and having high Insight decreases it.
  • Beneficial to use stamina Caryll Runes like Anti-Clockwise Metamorphosis.
