Beast Patient (Male) ❘ 獣患者

Regular Enemy

Description

  • Although small and relatively weak on their own, their speed and agility can make them very dangerous in large numbers and they'll take full advantage of that fact with clever ambush tactics. Beast Patients usually appear in groups and are often hidden behind obstacles, shrouded in steam or smoke, or otherwise out of sight; if you see one, proceed with caution, as there are probably more hiding nearby. They are extremely fearful of fire and will often shield their eyes while recoiling in fear at that sight of any flame, including the one from your Torch. When they do attack they employ simple claw swipes, lunges and rapid combos, and will frequently try to dodge your attacks by leaping backwards or to the side; their individual hits don't deal too much damage, but can add up quickly, especially if you're fighting several at a time. The scent from Pungent Blood Cocktails will also draw them in, so you can throw one to stop them from pursuing you or group them together to hit all of them at once with a Molotov.

Strategy

  • Beast Patients fall quickly due to their low health; a single Molotov will kill them and is a great way of dealing with tightly-clustered groups. They can be interrupted, but it's more effective just to hit them a few times with R1 attacks due to their low health and defense, simply stand back and wait for them to act, then move in and mow them down during their recovery. Trying to stay behind these enemies is difficult due to their agility, but you can evade most of their attacks by quickstepping forward through them or sideways and out of the way. When fighting more than one at a time, try to have your Torch out in one hand because the flame will tend to keep them at bay for while, allowing you to work your way through the group one at a time if you're quick. Even attacking them with the Hunter's Torch can be very effective during the early stages of the game, but when you encounter them later in dungeons you're much better off using fire elemental weapons to dispatch them quickly.

Ashen Blood Beast Patient Effect

  • Enemies in Ashen Blood Beast Patient's shriek vicinity get buff visually represented by the Red Eyes. In Old Yharnam affected enemies have stronger attacks, get Slow Poison property for them and HP boost. This effect is lost when enemies gets too far away or Ashen Blood Beast Patient is killed, in the latter it takes around 10 seconds for the effect to be lost. Exception are the Scourge Beasts who additionally gets idle animation that recovers their HP and effect is permanent.

Notes

  • Preset Chalice Dungeons: Ailing Loran, Lower Loran
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Fixed rally aura can appear on certain enemies exclusively in Loran dungeons. Despite their similarities, this aura is not related to Fetid rite. Enemies with such aura (red) will have Rally Effect and can regain health as you do. This aura appears around labyrinth madmen, male beast patients and scourge beasts. Besides rally ability, these enemies have only 70% of their normal HP and always drop cursed gems. Rally aura scourge beast can also drop Beast Blood Pellets (5% drop rate at base Discovery).
  • Beast Patient (Male) with red eyes have different drop rates from regular version.
  • Beast Patient (Male) weak versions can be found marching to their death, slaughtered by one of the first Old Hunters in Hunter's Nightmare.
  • Gilbert, Critically Ill Man will become Beast Patient at the end of his quest when time shifts into the Blood Moon phase

Beast Patient (Male)
Pungent Blood Cocktails attract this enemy, making it vulnerable for few seconds.
Shaman Bone Blades affect this enemy, making it hostile to other enemies.

Base Level: Blood Echoes, HP, Damage and Def. Multipliers

  • For enemies that also appear (or exclusively appear) in dungeons, their stats will be shown at the base level, because their exact stats at any given point are calculated from these base values. The basic formula is: Total Value = Base x A x B x C x D. Multipliers written down below were datamined directly from the game files. Multiplier A represents depth (1 - 5) of the chalice dungeon; multiplier B is layer (1 - 4) of the specific chalice dungeon; multiplier C is used when dungeon is Pthumeru Ihyll; multiplier D is for calculating blood echoes when additional curse rite is used.
