Afflicted Beggar ❘ 身を窶した男

NPC

Description

The Afflicted Beggar is a Scourge victim first encountered consuming the dead bodies of three Yharnamites on the Windmill Balconies in the Forbidden Woods.
  • While he makes great effort to appear normal, in reality he's barely clinging to his humanity and will reveal his true form if you attack him three times at any point in his quest. Challenging him early on can result in an extremely tough battle, but you can completely avoid the fight by sending him to the clinic; doing so will indeed cure him of his beasthood, enabling you to effortlessly obtain the rune he carries. Telling him about the Oedon Chapel will cause him to take up residence outside and begin preying upon any other refugees present there; when none remain, he will take his leave without a word and will be gone for the rest of the current game cycle. He will slaughter his first victim immediately after moving to the chapel, and will kill another refugee each time you defeat a boss, this includes Chalice Dungeon bosses as well.

Location

  • Forbidden Woods Windmil Balconies, near where Cannon can be found.
  • Cathedral Ward Outside Oedon Chapel, after telling him about this safe place.
  • Iosefka's Clinic 1st Floor [in form of Small Celestial Emissary], after telling him about this safe place.

Stats & Equipment

  • Tables below consist of datamined stats and equipment, this specific information is for NPCs, hunters or less, that uses a player-like human model and skeleton, practically every NPC that can be equipped with player's gears. Some characters are equipped with items that they aren't programmed to use by the AI, such items are highlighted. All characters have infinite Quicksilver Bullets and 99 copies of any item they hold (including Blood Vials) and the only thing that prevents from infinitely consuming them is written in their AI script. For information about all characters visit Datamined NPCs Stats & Equipment wiki page.

►
Beggar will kill NPCs in this order: Bigoted Old Man ► Lonely Old Woman ► Adella, Nun of the Healing Church ► Oedon Chapel Dweller ► Arianna, Woman of Pleasure
Exact rewards for each victim are listed in the table below.

Safe Place Rewards

►
Send to Oedon Chapel
If sent as first refugee into Oedon Chapel in Cathedral Ward, Oedon Chapel Dweller will die. If there are other refugees you will receive new lines of dialogue from the dweller.
►
Send to Iosefka's Clinic
Impostor Iosefka will reward you with 2x Beast Blood Pellet.

Strategy

  • Afflicted Beggar turns into Abhorrent Beast when aggroed, therefore strategy for this beast should be used.

Drops

  • Beast (+50) x1 [100%]

Notes

  • Current Bug: In 1.09 there is a bug when you send him into the Oedon Chapel he will sometimes become unkillable after his first victim.
  • He will not drop Blood Dreg when Corruption Oath Caryll rune is equipped.
  • If you attack Afflicted Beggar and he will turn into his beast form, he will still count as NPC for your fellow cooperators and they cannot hurt each other!
  • Every refugee NPC that beggar kills will leave the same dropped item on its spot as you would have killed it.
  • Afflicted Beggar wears Madman Leggings and Harrowed Hood [DLC] which reads, "Certain Church hunters obfuscate their identities and slip into the nooks and crannies of the city. This is the garb that allows these harrowed individuals to go unnoticed. These hunters are keen to early signs of the scourge, serving as a first line of defense against its outbreak. Or perhaps, when the time is ripe, they find signs of the scourge where there are none. It just goes to show, the corner beggar is not always who he seems."
  • His character archetype is similar to Demon's Souls NPC Yurt the Silent Chief (killing other NPCs in "safe" place)
  • Interesting fact: He offers 3x Beast Blood Pellets for every male NPC he kills and 2x Beast Blood Pellets
    for every female NPC.
  • Peter Pacey voice acted both Afflicted Beggar and Blood Minister

Afflicted Beggar Abhorrent Beast Afflicted Beggar Datamined exact values of Face Data for character creation; view on - Sliders - page. Sliders are the bars you manipulate at the beginning of the game [character creation] that change your character's appearance.

Cooperation & NPCs

  • Note that cooperators can not damage the NPCs, as they only see the transparent silhouette of it. Therefore if you make the NPC hostile your cooperator isn't able to help you other than to "body block" it.
