Iosefka's Clinic ❘ ヨセフカの診療所

Location

Description

  • Bloodborne begins with the PC Hunter awakening in the first floor of Doctor Iosefka's clinic after receiving their very first blood ministration. Iosefka is the very first NPC that the Hunter can encounter in Bloodborne; after the Hunter dies to the Scourge Beast (or use Central Yharnam lamp) and is sent to the Hunter's Dream, returning with weaponry marking them a Hunter, if the Player travels back up the stairs towards the clinic they will encounter the door locked and barred. Through a crack in the door we see a woman dressed in white, with whom we can speak. "Are you... out on the hunt? Then I'm very sorry, but... I cannot open this door. I am Iosefka. The patients here in my clinic must not be exposed to infection. I know that you hunt for us, for our town, but I'm sorry. Please. This is all that I can do." Iosefka will assist the Hunter by providing them with her specially concentrated Blood, capable of fully healing the Hunter. "The product of a slow and careful refinement process, this rare blood vial appears to be a clinic original." The Hunter can return to Iosefka at any time to collect more Blood, but can only carry a single vial at the time. This changes, however, after the death of Father Gascoigne.
  • This time, when the Hunter comes to Iosefka, there will be no blood provided. Instead, the Doctor will ask the Hunter to direct any individuals they come across to her clinic, so that they can be treated and cured. From this point onwards, Iosefka will ask the Hunter to bring her more and more people, assuring that they are being taken proper care of. As a reward for the Hunter if the Hunter begins to bring her people, she will eventually start providing the player with Blue Elixirs. Blue Elixir is described as a:"Dubious liquid medicine used in strange experiments conducted by high ministers of the Healing Church." A rather chilling item indeed for a common blood ministration doctor to be carrying. [The Paleblood Hunt by Redgrave]

  • First Visit:
You'll awaken in a small room in Iosefka's Clinic with a small note on a chair in front of you providing the only hint of what to do There are two doors in the room: one of them cannot be opened from this side, so go through the other one and head down the stairs. You'll soon come across a Scourge Beast feasting on a corpse Defeating it barehanded is difficult; your safest option is just to run past it. If it kills you, you'll be transported to the Hunter's Dream, where you can acquire your first weapons and then return to the Clinic to exact your revenge upon the beast. The courtyard outside the clinic has two gates. One on the right is locked and can't be opened until later, so proceed through the left one (after picking up the item near it).

► Second Visit (Backside Entrance)

  • Graveyard Gate:
Upon reaching this area, the first and most important thing to do is pull the switch to open the gate that leads back out to Central Yharnam. Doing so means that if you die, you'll have a quick route back here via either the 1 st Floor Sickroom Lamp or the Central Yharnam Lamp.

  • Side Alley:
If you go through the already open gate near the top of the ladder, you'll be able to access this small alley that runs alongside the main clinic building. It may seem like the area is empty, but don't run through carelessly. Near the end of the alley you'll see a well with an item on it, but the Brainsucker just to the left of it will ambush you if you fail to pay him the required attention. Use a powerful thrust attack to take him out quickly.
  • Clinic Rooftops:
At the top of the ladder, there are some rooftops to cross in order to enter the clinic. While there are quite a number of Carrion Crows in this area, you can avoid them all by simply running along the left-hand side if you're in a rush. Given the ease with which they can be killed, however, and the high amount of Blood Echoes they reward you with, killing them can be quite lucrative.

  • 2nd Floor Operating Room:
Following the corridor around to the right as soon as you enter the clinic building will eventually lead you back to the room that you first awoke in, after signing your contract. There are a few key differences since the last time you were here, however. For every person you have sent to Iosefka's Clinic Sanctuary so far, there will be an additional Small Celestial Emissary in the clinic, so you may well encounter one on the way to the room, as well as inside it. Unless you provoke them, these Emissaries will not attack, so you can simply leave them to carry on about their business if you wish. Inside the room you'll also find a new item sitting on the operating table you awoke upon. It's the Cainhurst Summons, a very important item that allows you to reach Forsaken Cainhurst Castle (via Hemwick Crossing in Hemwick Charnel Lane).

  • Rear Operating Room:
If you follow the path to the left all the way down, you'll arrive at another operating room with a chest hidden at the back. The chest contains a very useful Communion Caryll Rune that increases the number of Blood Vials you can carry. Head back out of this room when you're ready to continue, and follow the branching corridor through the door at the end.

  • 3rd Floor Operating Room:
As you begin heading up the large staircase here, Iosefka will start talking, pleading with you to turn around and walk away, so that you can continue with the same arrangement you had previously. She'll also give a stern warning about what may happen if you continue. If you keep going to the operating room now you'll have a difficult battle against her, with very little reward for winning; a better approach is to leave and return during the Blood Moon time. By that point she'll have become insane, and if you kill her then you'll get One Third of Umbilical Cord, an item which is required to see a different ending to the story.
