White Church Garb ❘ 教会の白装束	Attire

In-Game Description

Attire of special Church doctors.

These doctors are superiors to the black preventative
hunters, and specialists in experimentally-backed blood
ministration and the scourge of the beast.

They believe that medicine is not a means of treatment but
rather a method for research, and that some knowledge can
only be obtained by exposing oneself to sickness.

Overview

Each piece of attire contributes to your overall defense and changes your character's appearance. While different pieces of attire do have different effects, the changes are typically not drastic enough to override aesthetic considerations. Information on the highest defense combination of attire can be found on the Highest Defense Armor Sets page.

White Church Garb have the highest Thrust defense and Slow Poison resistance of all chest pieces. This garb is part of the White Church Set. Head, chest and leg pieces of this set have a different model and art for male (left) and female (right) characters.

You'll meet Adella, Nun of the Healing Church in the Storeroom of Yahar'gul during your first trip to the village, but she'll be too scared to speak with you unless you're wearing Healing Church clothing. To earn her trust, you must equip one of the following pieces of chest attire before initiating conversation: Black Church Garb, White Church Garb, Choir Garb, Executioner Garb, Tomb Prospector Garb or Gascoigne's Garb.

You'll also meet Ludwig, the Holy Blade (Head) in the Underground Corpse Pile of Hunter's Nightmare after you defeat him. If you're wearing a Healing Church garment in your body slot, Black Church Garb, White Church Garb, Choir Garb, Executioner Garb, Tomb Prospector Garb or Gascoigne's Garb, Ludwig's dialogue will change and he'll offer you a yes/no prompt; answer yes and he'll give you the Holy Moonlight Sword immediately. If you answer "no" and reload the area, the Seeker of Secrets will show up and finish Ludwig; at this point you can obtain the sword by speaking to the Seeker.

Availability

Treasure in (Main Story): Forbidden Woods, Rooftop of the building near caged Rabid Dogs on path to Iosefka's Clinic. If you need further assistance to find the garb, you can follow the Forbidden Woods Map.

Clothing Defense

Clothing Defense is a percentage reduction after Physical DEF is applied. "Every 10 points of defense is 1% damage reduction." Each type is specific and separate in this category. The entry for "Physical" (read as, Physical damage that's not specifically Thrust or Blunt) doesn't apply to Thrust or Blunt damage, as they each have their own separate numbers. Separate items of clothing stack multiplicatively, rather than additively like you might expect. Hat, chest, arms, legs of 50, 100, 40, 40 respectively for example, would yield 212, or 1000 * (1 - (.95 * .9 * .96 * .96)), rather than 230.

Caryll Runes that affect damage resistance stack on top of your Clothing Defense. Note that the "Physical" defense rune increases Physical, Thrust, Blunt, and Blood. "Arcane" only affects Arcane, but not Bolt and Fire, which each have their own rune. These also stack multiplicatively on top of clothing (and each-other). A 5% rune would be like adding a clothing item with 50 defense in that category. In the example above, you'd go from 212 to 251 with a +5% rune. Hidden Equip Load

Despite hidden "Equip Load" being removed for stamina regeneration with patch 1.04 (more information on the Weight System page). It does affect the fall damage. Equip Load gets higher by equipping pieces of attire and right and left-hand weapons; furthermore, in the case of the weapons, even unequipped ones in your quick menu count. The higher the hidden "Equip Load," the more damage your character will take from the fall damage. Interestingly enough, pieces of attire from The Old Hunters DLC have no weight penalty; therefore, it is as if you would fall naked (more information on the Fall Damage page).

Notes

Visual glitch was discovered where you can temporarily glitch cape from your White Church Garb (female) if you use Yahar'gul teleport or portal traps in Chalice Dungeons. You need to equip any weapon your hunter puts on their back (Kirkhammer, Ludwig's Holy Blade, Burial Blade & Whirligig Saw) and enter the teleport. It is purely visual glitch only useful for you to see how the garb looks without the cape.

The physical stats for the Armor are W / X / Y / Z: W is Physical defense, has two special subtypes: blunt and thrust. Each physical attack is either normal physical, blunt, or thrust. X is Blunt defense Y is Thrust defense Z is Blood defense: The Blood attribute dictates how resilient the Armor is to Blood Damage	The elemental stats for the Armor are X / Y / Z: X is Arcane defense: The Arcane attribute dictates how resilient the Armor is to Arcane Damage Y is Fire defense: The Fire attribute dictates how resilient the Armor is to Fire Damage Z is Bolt defense: The Bold attribute dictates how resilient the Armor is to Bolt Damage	The resistance stats for the Armor are X / Y / Z: X is Slow Poison resistance to slow poisoning. The higher this attribute, the more resistant you are. Y is Rapid Poison resistance to rapid poisoning. The higher this attribute, the more resistant you are. Z is Frenzy resistance to the lure of frenzy. The higher this attribute, the more resistant you are.	The higher this attribute, the closer you are to beasthood when temporary transformed. Grants a serious increase in ATK power, at the cost of a similarly serious decrease in defense.
