Multiplayer Item

In-Game Description

Small bell discovered in the old underground labyrinth.

Its ring resonates across worlds, and the first hunter
used it as a special signal to call hunters from other
worlds to cross the gap and cooperate.

This bell resonates with its counterpart, the Beckoning
Bell. Ring to help hunters in other worlds.

Note: Online-use only. Cannot use this item offline.

Effects

  • Small Resonant Bell is strictly for use in online play. If you are playing in offline mode, you won't be able to use this item and it won't affect you.
  • By ringing the Small Resonant Bell, you'll indicate that you wish to assist another hunter in their world. The game will perform matchmaking, and then you'll join another player's game as a guest. Help them defeat the area boss, and you'll be rewarded and sent back to your own world. This bell can be purchased from the Insight Shop for one point of Insight after you have acquired the Beckoning Bell.
  • By ringing the Small Resonant Bell, you can attempt to join another player as a guest. You can do this even in areas where you've already killed the boss, but the player you're helping must not have killed that boss yet, since your goal will be to help the host defeat the area boss (unless you are summoned as a nemesis). If the area boss is defeated while you are summoned as an ally, you will be rewarded with 1 Insight point and a portion of the boss' Blood Echoes before returning to your world. You can return at any point by using the Silencing Blank, though you will not receive any rewards; dying in the host's world or the host dying will yield the same results. While playing as a co-op guest, killing a nemesis or invader will reward you with 30% of the total Blood Echoes that they would need in order to level up.
  • Factional Conflict: Your Oath Memory Slot marks your factional alignment. There are four possible Oath types: 'Corruption' for Vileblood, 'Radiance' for Executioner, 'Hunter' for Hunter of Hunters, and 'None'. Executioner and Vileblood are naturally opposed to each other, and Hunter of Hunters has a set chance to oppose players with no affiliation. By using the Sinister Resonant Bell, you have a 5% chance of becoming a Blood Addled Hunter, which is in opposition to Hunter of Hunters. If you attempt to join a co-op session as a guest and the host is a member of an opposing faction, you will instead be summed with the task of killing the host as a nemesis. For example, if you bear the Radiance Rune and the server's matchmaking pairs you with a player bearing Corruption, you will be summoned as a nemesis, even if you intended to join co-op play! Similar to using the Sinister Resonant Bell, the rewards for killing the host are 10% of the Blood Echoes they require to level up and 1 point of Insight.

Blood Addled Status - for Hunter Caryll Rune

  • Blood Addled status is applied at a 5% chance when ringing the sinister bell. The player does not need to invade or kill another player to become flagged. One can ring the sinister bell over and over again and become Blood Addled.
  • Blood Addled status is cleared when killing a boss as a cooperator.
  • Blood Addled status is not cleared by hosting a cooperator and killing the boss.
  • Blood Addled status is not cleared in NG+.
  • Player will not become Blood Addled by killing NPCs in the story mode.
  • Player will not become Blood Addled by a Sinister Bell Maiden spawning in a Nightmare area or Co-Op. If invaded this way, killing the invader the player will not become Blood Addled.

Availability

  • Sold by: Insight Bath Messengers [Hunter's Dream]

Notes

  • If Host and Guest will be in hostile covenants like Cainhurst Vilebloods and Executioners Guest will be summoned as the adversary rather than cooperator.
  • Note that bosses will have additional health for every allied player that is with you when you enter the boss room; they'll have 50% additional health i you have one ally with you, and the boss's health well actually be double the normal value if you have two allies.
  • Killing boss while participating in cooperation in other world grants guest 1 Insight.
  • The formula for Level Ranges is 20% and a flat 20; (X +20%) + 20 for the highest level or (X-20%) - 20 for the lowest level. (rounded down)
  • For calculating the summoning range use Multi-Player Level Range Calculator.
  • Guest's health is reduced to 70%.
  • Guest receives 50% of Blood Echoes of slain enemies during cooperation.
  • Cathedral Ward requires to open all three main gates to be able to cooperate.
  • Updated: If a player uses the Beckoning Bell or Small Resonant Bell while using a password, it will be clearly indicated that a password is in use. When players use a password, they will be matched regardless of level difference. If the level difference between the host and the guest when matched using a password is large, the guest's stats will be adjusted to match the host's.
  • Since patch 1.06 + 1.07, using an online bell creates ripples at your feet that reflect whether you are trying to leave your world (ripples going outward) like Small Resonant Bell and Sinister Resonant Bell or trying to bring others into it (ripples going inward) like Beckoning Bell. When there are players near you that have used the Beckoning Bell or Small Resonant Bell and are waiting to join a coop session, they will appear in your game as phantom with a ripple effect at their feet. That assumes they are within the correct level range and would be able to match with you. If you watch the way their ripples move you can see whether they are trying to host the coop session or join someone else.
