In Game Description

A Caryll rune discovered by the old hunter Ludwig along
with the Holy Moonlight Sword.
Boosts amount of life recovered by rallying.

When Ludwig closed his eyes, he saw darkness, or perhaps
nothingness, and that is where he discovered the tiny beings
of light. Ludwig was certain that these playful dancing
sprites offered "guidance," and emptied Ludwig of his fears
at least in the midst of a hunt.

Overview

  • Caryll Runes are special items that you can attach to your character at the workshop in the Hunter's Dream. You can use up to four at onetime, and they provide a variety of very helpful effects. Use them tactically depending on the environments you plan to explore and the enemies you expect to face.

  • Before you can make use of Runes, you'll need the Rune Workshop Tool. This is found in Hemwick after defeating the Witch of Hemwick. After you have the tool, approach the Memory Altar in the Workshop and press X to equip Runes in your memory slots. You have three normal Memory Slots for basic runes, and a fourth "Oath Memory" slot. The basic runes are for use with normal Caryll Runes, and the Oath Memory slot is for Oath Runes only. Some runes have up to three different ranks, with higher ranked runes having more powerful effects.

  • Beware if you sell any Caryll Rune they will NOT respawn in New Game Plus.

Effects

  • Rally potential governs how much health you recover with each swing of your weapon as part of the Regain system, and by equipping one of these Guidance runes you will be able to increase that amount. Getting more health back with each attack will allow you to replenish your health quicker after getting hit, which in turn will allow you to be more aggressive when fighting enemies. Since the increase is applied to each hit you land, faster weapons or ones with attacks that hit multiple times get the most benefit from these runes.

Availability

  • Tier 1: Dropped by (Main Game): Carrion Crow in Research Hall's top floor

  • Tier 2: Dropped by (Main Game): Ludwig, the Holy Blade in Hunter's Nightmare, Underground Corpse Pile

  • Tier 3: Depth 5 Root Dungeons [Not Found]

Notes

  • This Item is part of The Old Hunters DLC
  • Carrion Crow on the top of Research Hall will drop Guidance Rune Tier 1 every playthrough and you can slot this rune more than once at the same time despite it being the same tier.
  • Ludwig will drop Guidance Rune Tier 2 every playthrough
  • Guidance rune tier 3 continuously not present in latest version [1.09] of the game. It has been confirmed that the code for the 3rd Tier Guidance Rune does exist in the game but that it has no drop table and there's no way to get it. UPDATE: Only way so far to acquire this item is through "PS4 savefile editing". [image]
