In-Game Description

A solid chunk that forms in coldblood.

After death, a substance in the blood hardens, and that
which does not crystalize is called a blood stone.

A chunk will never appear in the blood of an ordinary
human. Seek deadlier foes if bloodstone chunks are needed.

Overview

  • You can never buy these highly coveted items from the Bath Messengers, but after defeating The One Reborn, you will be able to acquire them through Insight Trade at a cost of 20 each. When it comes to picking them up, the best area in the game is Yahar'gul, Unseen Village (Blood Moon), but you'll also be able to find quite a few in the Nightmare of Mensis. The best enemies to hunt in order to get them are either the Church Giant on the Lecture Building 2F or the Scourge Beasts in the Upper Cathedral Ward. Both of those enemies have the same drop rate, but since there are more Scourge Beasts, it's much more effective to go after them. Bosses in depth 3-4 Chalice Dungeons have the highest chance to drop this item, but since the drop rate is still quite low, however, you should do everything you can to increase your Discovery stat before going after them.

Loot Duping Farming

  • Follow Kekimus Prime's Guide to farm as many blood stone chunks as you want. You need to be at the Research Halls lamp to make this work. Run up the steps next to the lamp & you will enter a large hall with a spiral staircase. Kill the Wandering Nightmare on your left but do not loot it. Run to the far end of the hall (across the poisonous water) & you will see another Wandering Nightmare on the steps. Kill that too but do not loot it. Run back to the Nightmare Church lamp & down the staircase. Kill the Wandering Nightmare but do not loot it. Run back to the Research Halls & kill the two Wandering Nightmares again but again do not loot them! Repeat this process & remember not to loot the Wandering Nightmares. When you feel you've farmed enough then loot the Wandering Nightmares after killing them. You will keep getting the option to "search the corpse." Keep doing that until you don't see it anymore.
  • This works only once every playthrough so you may want to spend some time doing it to get as many blood stone chunks as possible. Don't die during this process or you will lose your progress of killing Wandering Nightmares & will have to start the entire process again. It is highly recommend using this technique for blood stone chunks farming after you've killed Brador in the jail cell corridor so that both enemies (Church Servant & Wheelchair Huntsman) will be dead & will not cause issues when running back & forth between the Research Hall & Nightmare Church lamps.

Blood Stones: Drop Pools

  • For the most part, items dropped by enemies are decided simply by a random percent chance from that enemy's own list of potential items. When an enemy appears in a dungeon, it sometimes has one or more of its drops determined by the dungeon's Depth, in order to give better rewards for more challenging dungeons. Such items are selected from a pool of similar items, and these pools are shown here. The upshot of this is that an enemy might drop a Blood Stone Shard in the Depth 1 Pthumerian Root Labyrinth, but would drop a Blood Stone Chunk instead in a Depth 5 Pthumeru Ihyll dungeon.
