The One Reborn ❘ 再誕者

Boss

Description

    In-game Name (multi-language)
English: The One Reborn; Japanese: 再誕者; German: Der Wiedergeborene; Spanish: El Renacido; French: Celui qui Renaquit; Italian: Il Rinato
    Internal Name
Japanese: なりそこないの邪神; Translation: Failed to Be Evil God
The One Reborn is mass of assembled body parts formed into one main body. Atop of this grotesque pile of limbs and torsos is one humanoid corpse seemingly controlling it all.

Preparation

  • Heavy weapons with powerful attacks such as Ludwig's Holy Blade work very well against The One Reborn, but those relying on blunt damage such as the Kirkhammer will be less effective due to the boss' higher blunt defense. Stock up on Bolt Paper, Bone Marrow Ash, Quicksilver Bullets and Blood Vials; you might also consider bringing a full load of Throwing Knives to provide a backup source of ranged damage.

Overview

  • The One Reborn is supported by six Bell Ringers that will constantly supply it with dark energy which is purely visual (Note: Looking into the game files reveal, that the dark energy balls have no effect attached to them.); they'll also begin bombarding you with homing fireballs if you damage the boss while they're still alive. The One Reborn will initially launch clumps of severed limbs at you and rain gore down on your current position, and will use a massive area attack to hit you both on the ground and in the upper galleries.
  • Its arm attacks will generate spheres of darkness at the points of impact, inflicting additional damage and making them harder to avoid; if you try to circle behind it and attack its rear half, it will fill the area around it with acid and force you to retreat. When facing this boss on the ground level it will use overhead arm slams and horizontal swipes with massive range, and will kick at you with the legs surrounding its core it you stand against its body for too long.
  • If you fight in the galleries, it will stretch its body up to reach you with forward punches and horizontal wings, and will continue pelting you with projectiles. The large corpse atop its front half, the lower central core of its body and all four of its large arms can be injured once each to knock it down for several seconds, allowing you to let loose with your strongest attacks at no risk to yourself; the large corpse receives heavily-increased damage and is your priority target once you've knocked the boss down.
  • Main type of damage dealt by The One Reborn is Blunt, Arcane. Also has several weak Physical melee attacks. Vomit and raining crap, as well as bell ringer projectiles, deal Arcane damage. More information about main damage types for all bosses are on Boss Damage Types wiki page.

Strategy

  • Before you do anything else, head straight for the balconies and eliminate the Bell Ringers. From that point on, it's entirely up to you whether to fight on the ground or in the galleries; the galleries are better suited to strategies involving the Cannon or sidearms, as they allow you to target weak points from above, though taking up that position also severely limits the attacks the boss can use and makes melee combat much simpler.
  • Fighting on the ground gives you direct access to all four of the boss' large limbs and allows you to focus on knocking it down, at which point you can target the large corpse atop its body with heavy attacks for extreme damage, but also places you at greater risk of being hit by its arms and legs.

Environment

  • The Bell Ringers are all positioned in the galleries, so you'll need to ignore the boss when the battle begins and head straight for the stairways to eliminate them; a corpse at one end of the bridge connecting the balconies holds ten Quicksilver Bullets in case you run out of ammunition. The ground level of the plaza is lined by slightly raised arcades that restrict your evasive options and are not normally safe places to stand, but the difference in elevation allows you to retreat to these areas to avoid the boss' pools of acid. When all of the Bell Ringers are dead, you may choose to fight the boss either on the ground or in the galleries; your decision will determine how it attacks and the methods you can use to damage it.

Old Hunter Summons

Location Requirement
  • Defector Antal: Summon sign is behind the last carriage before the fog gate to The One Reborn, on the left. He can't take the shortcut lift.
  • You can only summon either Antal or Yamamura to assist you, not both simultaneously.
  • Yamamura the Wanderer
    Confederate
: Behind a carriage on the left side of the road a short distance before the boss room of The One Reborn.
  • In order to summon Yamamura for this fight, you must first kill him in the Hunter's Nightmare and equip the " Impurity" rune. You can summon either Yamamura or Antal to assist you in battle against The One Reborn, but not both simultaneously.
  • With patch v1.07 you are able to summon NPCs to come to your aid, just like cooperative play, including inside Chalice Dungeons. To do so, first you will need to acquire the “Old Hunter Bell” from the messengers in the Hunter’s Dream. In some areas you may be able to summon up to two NPC Hunters.

Notes

  • Despite One Reborn having 999 Slow Poison & Rapid Poison resistances it is still vulnerable to such status.
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Upon boss defeat the Advent Plaza lamp spawns and Blood Stone Chunk opens for purchase at Insight Bath Messengers.
  • The One Reborn boss fight is reminiscent to the Tower Knight from Demon's Souls.
  • The One Reborn Japanese translation - 再誕者, saitansha/saitanmono - the resurrected one, the rebirthed one

Cooperation & Boss' HP

  • Having a summoned ally doesn't alter the health or difficulty of the enemies you'll fight, but it does affect the bosses. To ensure they are still a challenge, boss health, showed in table above, is increased to 1.5x when a second co-op player enters your world, and to 2.0x when a third enters.

The One Reborn Weak Points

  • In Total and Part HP columns you will find value of the base HP without area multiplier. In Bloodborne each entity has own base HP (and NG) value which is then multiplied by the area (or part of the area) multiplier in which enemy or boss is in.
  • In the HP Percentage column you will find value of how much damage you need to deal to that body part to break it in percentage of total boss HP.
  • Enemies and Bosses can have multiple weak points which some are breakable (listed with multipliers) and take higher damage while broken while some will have only higher damage multipler the whole time (mainly listed in the notes section).
Body Part Total HP Part HP HP [%] Damage X Damage X
after breaking
Small Leg 1800 100 5.56% 1 1.5
Large Leg 1800 200 11.11% 1 1.5
  • Notes: The large corpse atop its front half, the lower central core of its body and all four of its large arms can be injured once each to knock it down for several seconds, allowing you to let loose with your strongest attacks at no risk to yourself; the large corpse receives heavily-increased damage and is your priority target once you've knocked the boss down.

Attack Patterns

Key Attack Interrupt Notes
Corpse Blast No Slightly delayed long-range linear projectile with splash damage on impact; quickstep sideways or block it with the terrain.
Raining Gore No Long charge period followed by several seconds of corpses raining down on you. Follows your current location; keep moving until the corpses stop falling.
Evil Explosion No Massive spherical area attack with a five-meter radius centered on the uppermost corpse; can hit both levels of the area. Quickstep away three times.
Acid Pool No Regurgitates an enormous amount of acid from the rear half of its body. Spreads outward to cover a huge area; get to higher ground.
Acid Spray No Spits acid from the rear half of its body.Targets a sweeping mid-range 180-degree arc; quickstep backward or move to its other end.
  • Strategy: After eliminating the Bell Ringers, remain in the gallery to fight or wait for the boss to approach and perform a plunging attack when it's within reach. If you fight in the galleries, it will use three attacks: a straight punch, an alternating double swipe and a headbutt. If it winds up with its left arm, it's about to use the straight punch -quickstep to either side and counterattack while it withdraws its arm. If it draws back its right arm, it'll perform a counterclockwise horizontal swing followed by a clockwise swing in the opposite direction after a short delay; you can avoid these by quickstepping through them into the attack or by backing up against the wall, but beware that in the lower sections of the balconies backing up won't always leave you enough room. If the boss leans back slowly, it'll perform a forward headbutt after a brief delay; you can avoid this by backing up against the wall, and it offers an excellent opportunity to counterattack. You can also peek through the broken sections of the railing and shoot the large targetable corpse from above; when it takes enough damage the boss will collapse, at which point you ean perform a plunging attack for tremendous damage.

On the ground, you'll have to stand at mid to long range and bait its arm attacks, then strike its arms as it recovers from the swing. When one of its arms sustains enough damage the boss will fall over, allowing you to reach the large corpse atop its body; this is your best chance to deal damage without the risk of taking any, so hit it with your strongest attacks before it gets up again. Do your best to stay away from the boss' lower central core; the smaller legs lining this part of its body will constantly kick at you and leave very few safe opportunities to strike with melee weapons. If you circle behind the boss and attack its lower end, it will lift that half of its body and begin attacking you with its two rear arms; if you plan on attacking these limbs you'll have to stand back and wait for a chance to move in safely. Causing it to reverse its stance also brings the large corpse atop its front half low enough for you to reach it with melee attacks, though it will quickly switch back when you do so. When one of its arms sustains enough damage the boss will fall over, allowing you to reach the large corpse atop its body; this is your best chance to deal damage without the risk of taking any, so hit it with your strongest attacks before it gets up again. Alternatively, if you focus on damaging one of its large legs, you can stagger it again while it is already down. Moving from leg to leg like this can stun the boss up to four times in a row, after which you can focus on the large corpse on too to finish it off.
