Key Item

In Game Description

Badge crafted by the Powder Kegs, the heretics of the
    Workshop.

The Powder Kegs aboration of complex design and big
booms culminated in weapon designs that contrast with
    those traditionally of the Workshop.

The late Powder Kegs, bless their souls, had a motto:
"If a weapon ain't got kick, it just ain't worth it."
Note: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓

  • In addition to unlocking the Powder Keg hunter weapons at the shop, this badge will make Oil Urn and Rope Molotov Cocktails available for sale, providing you with a backup source of ranged attacks and an extremely helpful means of quick dispatching beast enemies weak to fire.

  • Badges are proof of your achievements and can be shown to the Bath Messengers and Insight Bath Messengers in the Hunter's Dream to expand the shop inventory. You'll sometimes find these valuable relics on the bodies of the fallen, but you may also receive them from other hunters. Obtaining certain badges will add extremely useful and important items to the shop's lineup, so it's worth going out of your way to find them.

  • The Bath Messengers are the most straightforward of the game's merchants; they can be found in the lower bath in the Hunter's Dream from the start of the game, and offer you the options to buy and sell items. By acquiring new badges, the Bath Messengers shop will start filling with new messengers in the bath. Each badge adds unique messenger alongside with new sortiment for you to buy. Powder Keg Hunter Badge adds beckoning Messenger to the left.

Availability

  • Dropped by (Main Story): Retired Hunter Djura in Old Yharnam, there are a couple of ways you can obtain it from him. If you go up his tower straight away and fight him, you'll automatically receive the badge upon his defeat.
  • Acquired from (Main Story): Retired Hunter Djura, you can also come into Old Yharnam from the back by going through Yahar'gul, Unseen Village (Evening), Graveyard of the Darkbeast lamp or from Church of the Good Chalice lamp (have to at least encounter Darkbeast Paarl), and if you climb his tower without being seen he'll be friendly and you can talk to him; agree to not harm the beasts and he'll hand you the badge willingly.

Notes

  • Unlocks Rifle Spear, Stake Driver, Rope Molotov Cocktail and Oil Urn for purchase at Bath Messengers.
  • If Retired Hunter Djura falls to his death and badge becomes unreachable, it will respawn next to gatling gun when you reload the game.
  • Upon starting New Game+ Powder Keg Hunter Badge will stay in your inventory. Other Key Items (except for other Badges, Blood Gem Workshop Tool, Rune Workshop Tool, Short Ritual Root Chalice, Workshop Haze Extractor and Ring of Betrothal) you acquired on your previous playthrough will be stripped away and you'll need to collect them again.
