Alfred, Hunter of Vilebloods ❘ 血族狩りアルフレート

NPC

Description

Alfred is a member of the Executioners, an order of hunters affiliated with the Healing Church. He is on a mission to assassinate the Vileblood queen and free the Executioners' former leader, Logarius, from eternal stewardship of the castle's seal.
  • You'll first meet Alfred at the small shrine beside the Lower Oedon Chapel, the building whose central altar hides the route to Old Yharnam. Agreeing to cooperate with him enables you to summon him outside the Church of the Good Chalice, where he will assist you during the battle with the Blood-starved Beast, as well as behind the shortcut gate near Gilbert's House if you haven't already fought the Cleric Beast. You'll find him waiting atop the stairway to the Forbidden Woods after nightfall, at which point you may give him the Unopened Summons found on the desk near Annalise's throne; doing so will allow him to travel to Cainhurst Castle, where he will finish what his master started and slaughter the queen. With his mission finally fulfilled, Alfred will thank you for your assistance and leave Cainhurst; when you return to the Cathedral Ward, you'll find him mysteriously dead at the altar where you first met him.

Stats & Equipment

  • Tables below consist of datamined stats and equipment, this specific information is for NPCs, hunters or less, that uses a player-like human model and skeleton, practically every NPC that can be equipped with player's gears. Some characters are equipped with items that they aren't programmed to use by the AI, such items are highlighted. All characters have infinite Quicksilver Bullets and 99 copies of any item they hold (including Blood Vials) and the only thing that prevents from infinitely consuming them is written in their AI script. For information about all characters visit Datamined NPCs Stats & Equipment wiki page.

Progression

1.
Cathedral Ward Lower Chapel [Evening]
To begin his quest and receive the initial rewards, speak to him at the small altar outside the lower chapel and agree to cooperation.
Beware! If you don't interact with Alfred before the Nighttime is triggered and meet him for the first time in Cathedral Ward Forbidden Woods Route you will not get the "Pray" gesture.
2.
Old Yharnam Church of the Good Chalice [Evening / Night]
After completing the previous step, you'll be able to summon him outside the Old Yharnam boss room to help you defeat the Blood-starved Beast.
3.
Central Yharnam near Gilbert's house [Evening / Night]
If you haven't killed Cleric Beast in Central Yharnam, you can summon him near Gilbert's house, behind shortcut gate down the stairs.
4.
Cathedral Ward Forbidden Woods Route [Night / Blood Moon]
He'll move to this location after nightfall. Give him the Unopened Summons and he will reward you with the Wheel Hunter Badge and a gesture; next time you load an area he will move to Cainhurst Castle and kill Queen Annalise. If you didn't interact with Alfred before he will have his starting dialogue in this location as well.
5.
Forsaken Cainhurst Castle Queen's Chamber [Night / Blood Moon]
Exhaust his dialogue to receive the final reward.
6.
Cathedral Ward Lower Chapel [Night / Blood Moon]
Found dead in his starting location at the altar outside of the lower chapel; at this point his quest is complete, collect final reward from his corpse and no further interaction is possible.

Old Hunter Summon

With patch v1.07 a wide variety of new and existing NPCs have been added to the main game, the Old Hunters areas and the Chalice Dungeons to aid you during the hunt, particularly during boss fights. The conditions for summoning these allies vary; the “Old Hunter Bell” is a universal requirement for calling any of them.
Location Requirement
1.
Blood-starved Beast in Old Yharnam
You must have spoken to Alfred and agreed to cooperate with him. If you open all gates in Cathedral Ward, Alfred moves to his new position outside the Forbidden Woods, his summon signs disappear and won't be available for both boss fights.
Found in the courtyard right before the boss battle. His summon sign will be on the bottom of the stairs as you enter the courtyard.
2.
Cleric Beast in Central Yharnam
Summoned by the Gilbert's House down the stairs shortcut from Central Yharnam lamp.

Strategy

  • If you make Alfred your enemy before he moves to Cainhurst, he'll fight you with his Kirkhammer and Ludwig's Rifle. While he can be a tough opponent early on, his slow transformed swings are easy to interrupt and create many opportunities for you to perform visceral attacks. His rifle has longer range than the Hunter Blunderbuss but a lower rate of fire, so you can quickstep forward when he fires and hit him with R1 combos before he recovers.
  • Should you turn him hostile at Cainhurst Castle, you'll have a much tougher fight on your hands - he'll be equipped Logarius' Wheel and will continually drink Lead Elixirs, which will cause your attacks to bounce off of him. His swings with the wheel are a little more difficult to predict, but interrupts are still the most effective way to deal with him; thrusting charge attacks from weapons such as Ludwig's Holy Blade or the Rifle Spear are also very effective.

Drops

  • Wheel Hunter Badge [100%], after first encounter
  • Fire Paper x3 [100%], first encounter
  • Radiance Caryll Rune [100%], once you acquire "Roar" gesture from him or finish his quest and found it on his body
  • + Blood Dreg x1 [100%] when Corruption is equipped

Notes

  • *Equipment: Alfred's equipment changes in different locations: (1) his equipment in Cathedral Ward and (2) equipment in Forsaken Cainhurst Castle
  • Radiance Caryll Rune can be dropped by Alfred after receiving "Roar" gesture from him.
  • Even if you have joined the Vilebloods (equipping Corruption oath rune) you can interact with Alfred without him being hostile.
  • You can summon Alfred for Henryk vs Eileen battle in Tomb of Oedon, steps you have to make are: Don't defeat Cleric Beast ► Don't defeat Vicar Amelia ► Choose to Cooperate with him near Old Yharnam entrance ► Unlock the shortcut gates in Cathedral Ward to spawn Eileen outside of Oedon Chapel ► Deplete her dialogue ► Summon Alfred near the Central Yharnam lamp and make him follow you to Tomb of Oedon. [reddit]
  • Character similar to Solaire of Astora from Dark Souls and both voiced by Daniel Flynn.

Alfred Alfred Datamined exact values of Face Data for character creation; view on - Sliders - page. Sliders are the bars you manipulate at the beginning of the game [character creation] that change your character's appearance.

First Encounter
You're a hunter, aren't you ? I knew it. That's precisely how I started out ! Oh, beg pardon, you may call me Alfred. Protege of Master Logarius, hunter of Vilebloods. So, what say you ? Our prey might differ, but we are hunters, the both of us. Why not cooperate, and discuss the things we've learned ?
x button
Select Cooperate
Oh-hoh ! Very good, very good indeed ! Take this, to celebrate our acquaintance. Beast hunting is a sacred practice. May the good blood guide your way. There must be oodles for us to share. Go on, just tell me what piques your interest.
x button
Select "Talk about the Healing Church"
As you know, the Healing Church is the fountainhead of blood healing. Well, I'm a simple hunter, quite unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the institution. I have heard that the holy medium of blood healing is venerated in the main cathedral. And that councilors of the old church reside in the high stratum of the Cathedral Ward. If you seek blood healing, and the church is willing, you should pay them a visit.
x button
Select "Talk about Byrgenwerth"
Byrgenwerth is an old place of learning. The tomb of the gods, carved out below Yharnam, should be familiar to every hunter. Well, once a group of young Byrgenwerth scholars discovered a holy medium deep within the tomb. This led to the founding of the Healing Church, and the establishment of blood healing. In this sense, everything sacred in Yharnam can be traced back to Byrgenwerth. But today, the college lies deep within a tangled wood, abandoned and decrepit. And furthermore, the Healing Church has declared Byrgenwerth forbidden ground. It's unclear how many of its scholars remain alive... ...but only they know the password that allows passage through the gate.

Oh, changed our mind, have we? Then perhaps we can co-operate and discuss what we’ve learned.

I bid you farewell. It has been a pleasure. May the good blood guide your way.

Meet again
Oh-hoh! Good to see you safe. Now, let’s think up something to discuss. Just tell me what piques your interest.
x button
Talk about Corrupted Vilebloods
Ah-hah! There’s something I want to tell you. A bit of a wisdom from the eminent Master Logarius. Once, a scholar betrayed his fellows at Byrgenwerth and brought forbidden blood back with him to Cainhurst Castle. It was there that the first of the inhuman Vilebloods was born, The Vilebloods are fiendish creatures who threaten the purity of the Church’s blood healing. The rule of the Vilebloods is still alive today, and so to honor my Master’s wishes, I search for the path to Cainhurst Castle.
x button
Talk about Corrupted Vilebloods once more
In his time, Master Logarius led his executioners into Cainhurst Castle to cleanse it of the Vilebloods. But all did not go well and Master Logarius became a blessed anchor guarding us from evil. Tragic, tragic times.. that Master Logarius should be abandoned in the accursed domain of the Vilebloods. I must free him so that he may be properly honored in martyrdom.
x button
Hand him Unopened Summons
Ah-hah! Is that the sigil of Cainhurst? I’ve heard tell of Cainhurst nobles and their amusingly pompous invitations. Wonderful! I thank you profusely… I will depart immediately. But first, a token of my gratitude… Ahh, I feel my master's hand at work. Praise the good blood! And let us cleanse these tarnished streets.
x button
When talked to again
It has been an honor but I must say, goodbye. Let us cleanse these tarnished streets. And may the Good blood guide your way.

In Queen's Chamber after handing him Unopened Summons

Try stirring up trouble in this sorry state! All mangled and twisted with every inside on the outside, for all the world to see! He heh heh hah hah haah!

Heh heh heh hah hah heh.. Oh you, is it? Look at this! Thanks to you, I’ve done it! Well? Isn’t it wonderful? Now Master can be canonised as a true martyr! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! I’ve done it. I have! Hah h-hah ha ha hah!

Just what is the meaning of this? Why turn your blade on me? You let the blood get the best of you… he he he You’ll regret this…

Just what is the meaning of this? Why turn your blade on me? You’re jealous, aren’t you? Unclean wench! Vile monstrosity! Bloody fool! Has the blood gone to your head? Pathetic! As you deserve! The blood! You’ve spilled my blood!
