Hunter Enemy

Description

  • The younger Madaras twin is one of the strongest non-boss enemies in the early game and poses a particularly serious threat to players traversing the Forbidden Woods for the first time. He primarily uses the normal mode of his Hunter Axe and will immediately augment it with Fire Paper when engaged in combat; he'll also occasionally throw in a shotgun blast, especially if you are out of reach of his melee attacks. He will frequently perform a forward roll followed by a physical attack, leaving himself open to interrupts, but moves too quickly for most charged attacks to reliably stagger him.

Stats & Equipment

  • Tables below consist of datamined stats and equipment, this specific information is for NPCs, hunters or less, that uses a player-like human model and skeleton, practically every NPC that can be equipped with player's gears. Some characters are equipped with items that they aren't programmed to use by the AI, such items are highlighted. All characters have infinite Quicksilver Bullets and 99 copies of any item they hold (including Blood Vials) and the only thing that prevents from infinitely consuming them is written in their AI script. For information about all characters visit Datamined NPCs Stats & Equipment wiki page.

Strategy

  • Be mindful of the other enemies in the area before you engage him, particularly the Carrion Crows near the elevator room entrance. If you enter the area from the Hunter’s Dream via the lamp, you'll appear behind him and can begin the fight by ambushing him with a charged strike. Watch for him to roll toward you and shoot him as soon as he follows up with a swing, then hit him with a visceral attack. If you killed Valtr he will attack you immediately as you approach the Frobidden Woods lamp. If you've already obtained the Beast Roar from a later section of the woods, you can use it to knock him down and attack him while he recovers. You can limit his ability to evade your attacks by backing him up against the elevator hut or one of the nearby tombstones, but be careful not to become trapped yourself.
  • The easiest way to kill Younger Madaras Twin is to lure him near elevator. Quickly use the elevator, making him fall to his death just beware of his possible plunge attack on his way down. You will get his drop automatically.

Old Hunter Summon

With patch v1.07 a wide variety of new and existing NPCs have been added to the main game, the Old Hunters areas and the Chalice Dungeons to aid you during the hunt, particularly during boss fights. The conditions for summoning these allies vary; the “Old Hunter Bell” is a universal requirement for calling any of them.
Location Requirement
1.
Shadow of Yharnam in Forbidden Woods
You cannot summon him if you have already killed him outside the Small Windmill or are not wearing the "Impurity" rune. For Ludwig fight he cannot be summoned simultaneously with Old Hunter Henriett.
In the corner of the small gated area opposite the boss room, to the left of the corpse in front of the giant tombstone holding the "Clockwise Metamorphosis" rune.
2.
Rom, the Vacuous Spider in Byrgenwerth
Right next to the Byrgenwerth lamp. Walk off the little ledge, and it’ll be on that plateu with you, nestled between two trees.
3.
Ludwig the Accursed in Hunter's Nightmare
At the end of the semi-hidden path in the Bloody Plaza where the first Nightmare Executioner approaches from. (Butcher Armor Set)

Notes

  • Younger Madaras Twin is part of the Valtr, Master of the League quest. After crushing a total of five Vermin and finishing Valtr's quest reload the area and he will wait for you in front of Forbidden Woods lamp. Alternatively you can kill Valtr at any point and Younger Madaras Twin will spawn and attack you immediately as you approach the lamp.

Younger Madaras Twin
Pungent Blood Cocktails don't attract this enemy, making the item ineffective.
Shaman Bone Blades affect this enemy, making it hostile to other enemies.
