In-Game Description Small portable lantern. This hunting accessory provides light while leaving both hands free to hold weapons. The torch, however, provides a stronger source of light. The Torch is certainly brighter, but using the Hand Lantern ironically keeps your hands free to use other weapons. This item is reusable; you only need one. Anytime you are in the dark, you can use it for a little extra light. Hand Lantern in Chalice Dungeons: It's worth investing in the Hand Lantern from the Bath Messenger in the Hunter's Dream, because it can get very dark in some rooms (especially in Loran Dungeons) so every little helps. This is especially true if you primarily use a transformed 2-handed weapon and cannot carry a Torch normally. Equip the Hand Lantern in your Personal Effects to keep your Quick Item slots free for other things. Availability Sold by: Bath Messengers [Hunter's Dream] Sword Hunter Badge: You'll acquire the Sword Hunter Badge after defeating the Cleric Beast in Central Yharnam. It adds several useful items to the shop, including Antidotes; they will come in very handy in Old Yharnam, so you might want to face Cleric Beast before you challenge the old city. Notes Available for purchase after obtaining Sword Hunter Badge. Hand Lantern will unequip every time you die, forcing you to equip it again if you wish to have it always on. Emits weaker light than Torch but keeps your hands free for other weapons. In-Game Art from The Old Hunters Official Guide shows lit lantern, same art and icon were included in the game files as well (right). Reduced stamina regeneration, erased in Patch 1.04.
