Basic Information

  • Status Ailments are often more deadly than normal attacks. It is always better to avoid such affliction, as curing ailments in the middle of a battle can be tricky. Still, you will inevitably need to deal with status ailments at some point. When you are exposed to a status ailment, its associated bar will begin to fill up; when it is completely full, the status will be inflicted. You can cure it before the bar fills to prevent the ailment.
  • For more information about hidden enemy attributes and immunity to status such as Slow Posion & Rapid Posion visit the Hidden Enemy Attributes wiki page.

Status Ailments

Icon Ailment Effect Cure Notes
Slow Poison RES Slow Poison Gradual HP Loss (at a rate of 12pt + 0.1% * 40/1 sec)* Antidote
  • Blood-starved Beast inflicts Slow Poison at a rate of 6pt + 0 2% * 40/0.2sec

  • Blood Gems (including those used by NPCs) inflict Rapid Poison at a rate of 100pt + 10%

  • Note that Rapid Poisoning and Frenzy must be cured before the HP Loss occurs, as the damage is instantaneous. This means that fighting foes that inflict either of these requires you to be very careful. Sometimes, if you haven't used an Antidote or Sedative before engaging them, it might already be too late. If an enemy kills you very quickly and you're unsure why, these status ailments are possibly the cause.
Rapid Poison RES Rapid Poison Instant HP Loss (250pt + 3%)** Antidote
Frenzy RES Frenzy Instant HP Loss (70%) Sedative

Sources of Frenzy

  • Weapon: By using Bloodletter you can self-inflict Frenzy (transformed L2)
  • Events: False God and Amygdalae grabs outside of Oedon Chapel and Shrouded Church beyond The Cliffs in Cathedral Ward
  • Enemies: Clocktower Patient (Head), Hole Digger, Evil Labyrinth Spirit, Brain of Mensis, Celestial Child, Winter Lantern, Church Servant (Crucifix), Garden of Eyes, Maneater Boar (Eyeballs)
  • Bosses: Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos

Unique Status Ailments

Icon Ailment Effect Cure Notes
Oil Increase Fire DMG [~x2] you take, status lasts for 30 sec Time
  • When hit with Oil Urn by the enemy, this status shows up instantaneously and lasts for 30 seconds, each hit resets this timer. Every fire based hit depletes it. Also changing clothes doesn't affect this status. This statuts gets also applied the moment you step into pond or puddles of oil liquids (like oil pond in Forbidden Woods or Chalice Dungeons), status disappears almost immediately after you leave step out.

Notes

  • Slow Poison: Caryll Runes Great Deep Sea and Clear Deep Sea increase Slow Poison resistance.
  • Rapid Poison: Caryll Runes Great Deep Sea and Stunning Deep Sea increase Rapid Poison resistance.
  • Frenzy: Caryll Runes Great Deep Sea and Deep Sea increase Frenzy resistance.
  • Frenzy resistance is also heavily dependent on how much Insight you have, and the more you have the more susceptible you will be to getting Frenzied.
  • You are immune to instantaneous damage from Frenzy and Rapid Poison while performing Visceral Attack, this proves especially useful while fighting Winter Lanterns
  • Running away or even killing the enemy doesn't stop Frenzy build up, it is advised to keep yourself at full health
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
