Regular Enemy

Description

  • Tiny larvae found in the Upper Cathedral Ward. Extremely weak and barely able to mount much of an offense, they move slowly, attack with pitiable bites and head swings, and will occasionally vomit a small amount of acid at extremely close range. While their low health, weakness to thrust attacks and general helplessness might lead you to believe they're no threat, beware: their attacks inflict an enormous amount of frenzy buildup and can easily kill you if you fail to take them seriously. That said, they're no threat at all as long as you don't let them hit you, so weapons or attacks with long enough reach to hit them from outside of their very short range will allow you to pick them off with near-impunity.

Strategy

  • Jump attacks initiated out of their reach will crush them before they can hit you, regardless of the weapon you're using; normal R1 and R2 swings from transformed weapons with long range, such as the Hunter Axe or the Threaded Cane, are equally effective. Celestial Children turn slowly and can't hit you while you're behind them, so maintain this position by strafing or quickstepping as necessary and eliminate them with an R1 combo or a solid thrust attack.

Notes

  • Preset Chalice Dungeons: Isz Gravestone
  • In Chalice Dungeons you can encounter Celestial Child which will wait to ambush you from the ceiling, it has same stats (HP, Echoes, Defences, Multipliers & Bonuses) and drop (pool & rates).
  • Despite Celestial Child having 999 Rapid Poison resistance it is still vulnerable to such status.
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Arianna, Woman of Pleasure will give birth to Celestial Child when her quest is finished. This special Celestial Child drops Third of Umbilical Cord. Also it has the same stats but only 2 HP.
  • Celestial Childs, in Upper Cathedral Ward on the right in front of the Orphanage, will not be hostile if you don't attack any of them. [image]

Pungent Blood Cocktails don't attract this enemy, making the item ineffective.
Shaman Bone Blades affect this enemy, making it hostile to other enemies.
