Labyrinth Warrior (Sword & Shield) ❘ 守り人の戦士

Strong Enemy

Description

  • Labyrinth Warriors are among the strongest opponents you'll encounter in the dungeons, and should be approached with due caution. Those armed with a greatsword in both hands can inflict large amounts of damage with accurate swings, and to make things worse, they'll often have additional elemental effects on their weapons. As they approach you they'll often use their Running Sweep, which has an immense amount of tracking and forward momentum so you'll need to quickstep through it at the last second to evade it successfully. These enemies lack any long range attacks and will generally only walk toward you, so if needed you can run away to create some space with which to heal, buff or use ranged attacks. Although slightly weaker than those with greatswords, warriors carrying crossbows & swords have the advantage of ranged attacks. Once you they have spotted you they will open fire with their crossbows, firing one shot roughly every 6 seconds so you'll need to approach them either from behind cover, or while strafing diagonally to make the shots miss.
  • Labyrinth Warriors wielding morning stars are aggressive and dangerous enemies; both the chain and the spiked head can strike you for multiple hits. From close range, they will use a string of overhead swings or their faster Flailing Combo. Their Flailing Combo consists of five swings and will appear to have ended before the last hit to bait you into walking into it. This attack will continue regardless of the distance you stand from them, creating many openings to interrupt it. Some warriors even employ shields to increase their defensive capabilities, and they will occasionally hold their shields up defensively and walk around while focused on you. From a distance they often use their Running Shield Smash or Running Overhead Cleave, both of which have strong tracking and will be followed by a Turnaround swing if you quickstep to past them to their back. Since both of these attacks have very telegraphed animations, it's better to try and interrupt them rather than evade.

  • Blocking damage: Labyrinth Warrior (Sword & Shield) like few other enemies (Executioner, Children of Rom, Huntsman (Torch and Shield)) have blocking animation and will take reduced damage (and status build-up) when hit during the animation.

Strategy

  • These enemies share many of the same sword attacks used by the crossbow-wielding variant, though they have a larger set of moves and can be found sometimes with elemental effects applied to their weapon. Although they can be staggered with a charged attack from behind, the fact that they are quite quick to turn and will often use their Turnaround Swing make it quite difficult to actually do so. The best means of staggering them is to stand outside their range to try and bait them into using their running attacks so that you can interrupt them. When they bring their shields up, use transform attacks to break their guard and hit them while they are stunned.

Notes

  • Preset Chalice Dungeons: Pthumeru Ihyll
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Variant with the Flaming weapon has the same stats as the regular version but its Flaming weapon adds +70 flat fire damage to enemy attacks.
  • Labyrinth Warriors (Sword & Shield) can use recovery items to fully restore their health, so you'll need to keep the pressure on them.
  • Labyrinth Warrior (Sword & Shield) is tied to the Bloodlickers spawn effect in Chalice Dungeons. Therefore after executing visceral attack and killing this enemy, then heading off to other parts of the layer, there's a possibility that when you return to the room you visceral attacked it in a Bloodlicker will appear to feed on the blood. Shaman Bone Blades affect this enemy, making it hostile to other enemies.

Attack Patterns

Swinging Combo Yes Quick flurry of attacks with up to four hits; quickstep back and interrupt this or quickstep forward past them and use a charged attack from behind.
Turnaround Swing Yes Same attack used by the crossbow and sword variant; quickstep back to avoid this.
Running Shield Smash Yes Runs towards you from a long distance; quickstep back or to either side just before they swing to avoid its heavy initial tracking.
Running Overhead Cleave Yes Acts and is avoided similarly to their Running Shield Smash but hits much harder.

Ritual Materials: Drop Pools

  • For the most part, items dropped by enemies are decided simply by a random per cent chance from that enemy's own list of potential items. When an enemy appears in a dungeon, it sometimes has one or more of its drops determined by the dungeon's Depth, in order to give better rewards for more challenging dungeons. Such items are selected from a pool of similar items, and these pools are shown here. The upshot of this is that an enemy might drop a Tomb Mold (1) in the Depth 1 Pthumerian Root Labyrinth, but would drop a Tomb Mold (5) instead in a Depth 5 Isz Gravestone dungeon.
