Labyrinth Warrior (Crossbow & Sword) ❘ 守り人の戦士

Strong Enemy

Description

  • Labyrinth Warriors are among the strongest opponents you'll encounter in the dungeons, and should be approached with due caution. Those armed with a greatsword in both hands can inflict large amounts of damage with accurate swings, and to make things worse, they'll often have additional elemental effects on their weapons. As they approach you they'll often use their Running Sweep, which has an immense amount of tracking and forward momentum so you'll need to quickstep through it at the last second to evade it successfully. These enemies lack any long range attacks and will generally only walk toward you, so if needed you can run away to create some space with which to heal, buff or use ranged attacks. Although slightly weaker than those with greatswords, warriors carrying crossbows & swords have the advantage of ranged attacks. Once you they have spotted you they will open fire with their crossbows, firing one shot roughly every 6 seconds so you'll need to approach them either from behind cover, or while strafing diagonally to make the shots miss.
  • Labyrinth Warriors wielding morning stars are aggressive and dangerous enemies; both the chain and the spiked head can strike you for multiple hits. From close range, they will use a string of overhead swings or their faster Flailing Combo. Their Flailing Combo consists of five swings and will appear to have ended before the last hit to bait you into walking into it. This attack will continue regardless of the distance you stand from them, creating many openings to interrupt it. Some warriors even employ shields to increase their defensive capabilities, and they will occasionally hold their shields up defensively and walk around while focused on you. From a distance they often use their Running Shield Smash or Running Overhead Cleave, both of which have strong tracking and will be followed by a Turnaround swing if you quickstep to past them to their back. Since both of these attacks have very telegraphed animations, it's better to try and interrupt them rather than evade.

Strategy

  • The six seconds between each of their crossbow shots are just enough time to peek out from behind cover and use ranged attacks against them of you want to fight them from outside of their melee range. Once you're within six meters of them they'll switch to their swords and use melee attacks which, while having short range and little forward momentum, do have considerable tracking and are very difficult to evade. From the front they will use simple one handed attacks and combos or a more powerful Two-hand Combo, all of which are easily interrupted and avoided by standing out of range and quickstepping forward or backward. If you're behind them, however, they will attempt to catch you with a Turnaround Swing that you can evade by quickstepping to either side, so make sure you only attack them once or twice before preparing to evade.

Notes

  • Preset Chalice Dungeons: Lower Pthumerian Labyrinth, Pthumeru Ihyll
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Labyrinth Warriors (Crossbow & Sword) can use recovery items to fully restore their health, so you'll need to keep the pressure on them.
  • Labyrinth Warriors (Crossbow & Sword) don't appear in Isz Gravestone dungeons under normal circumstance but if you save-edit them into the Isz it will change their crossbow projectiles similar to change for Labyrinth Ritekeepers projectiles. [video]
  • Labyrinth Warrior (Crossbow & Sword) is tied to the Bloodlickers spawn effect in Chalice Dungeons. Therefore after executing visceral attack and killing this enemy, then heading off to other parts of the layer, there's a possibility that when you return to the room you visceral attacked it in a Bloodlicker will appear to feed on the blood.   • Labyrinth Warrior (Crossbow & Sword) will sometimes scream towards you which is not just intimidation move but it actually gives them 15% phys buff after defense reductions. [video]

Pungent Blood Cocktails don't attract this enemy, making the item ineffective.
Shaman Bone Blades affect this enemy, making it hostile to other enemies.

Attack Patterns

Two-hand Combo Yes Two-hands the sword for higher damage, up to three hits; keep just out of their reach while moving back up to avoid their forward momentum.
Side Stab Yes Used when standing at either of their sides; quickstep to the right and attack.
Turnaround Swing Yes Stabs while you are standing to their sides; strafe right against them so it misses and attack.

Ritual Materials: Drop Pools

  • For the most part, items dropped by enemies are decided simply by a random per cent chance from that enemy's own list of potential items. When an enemy appears in a dungeon, it sometimes has one or more of its drops determined by the dungeon's Depth, in order to give better rewards for more challenging dungeons. Such items are selected from a pool of similar items, and these pools are shown here. The upshot of this is that an enemy might drop a Tomb Mold (1) in the Depth 1 Pthumerian Root Labyrinth, but would drop a Tomb Mold (5) instead in a Depth 5 Isz Gravestone dungeon.
