Eye Collector ❘ アイコレクター

Strong Enemy

Description

  • Eye Collectors are a non-boss variant of the Witch of Hemwick; they move considerably faster and attack much more aggressively, but are incapable of using magic and will use their grabs or basic melee attacks most of the time instead. They are straightforward enemies with average defense; Throwing Knives and Molotovs are effective, but ordinary physical attacks make more sense, given these foes' inability to strike behind them. Eye Collectors can be interrupted and staggered relatively easily due to their predictable behavior and small repertoire of moves; they also turn slowly, enabling you to stay behind them and avoid their attacks with relative ease.

Rotted Offering in Chalice Dungeons

  • In Root Chalice Dungeons with rotted offering there is a 16% (base) chance to appear in non-Hintertomb and 24% (base) chance to appear in Hintertomb dungeons, these special Eye Collectors will summon Mad Ones. They can also appear in combination with Tomb Prospectors 17% (Eye Collector + Tomb Prospectors) in non-Hintertomb and 25% (Eye Collector + Tomb Prospectors) chance to appear in Hintertomb dungeons. Last combination is with Labyrinth Ritekeeper 17% (Eye Collector + Labyrinth Ritekeeper) in non-Hintertomb and 25% (Eye Collector + Labyrinth Ritekeeper) chance to appear in Hintertomb dungeons. Your points of Insight has no effect on summoning. (reloading the game reset the summoning of Mad Ones)

Strategy

  • Standing in front of them is lethal, especially at close range; they will often use the fast version of their grab attack before you can react, and will go out of their way to position themselves as close to you as possible before performing it. Quickstep behind them and maintain that position using further quicksteps or strafes, while launching your attack with R1 combos or charged R2 swings; beware that while three Throwing Knives are generally enough to kill them, the arc of Molotovs will often cause them to miss if you throw one at an Eye Collector that's moving toward you. Generally, you're better off saving your consumable items altogether - these enemies have low enough health that a visceral attack or a solid R1 combo will get the job done more efficiently.

Notes

  • During Eye Collector grab attack animation, damage can NOT be reduced by repeatedly pressing buttons (mashing).
  • Preset Chalice Dungeons: Hintertomb (Regular), Lower Hintertomb (Regular)
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Eye Collectors from rotted rite have different stats (HP, Echoes, Defences, Multipliers & Bonuses) and drop (pool & rates).

Eye Collector
Pungent Blood Cocktails don't attract this enemy, making the item ineffective.
Shaman Bone Blades don't affect this enemy, making the item ineffective.
