Small Celestial Emissary (Tendrils) ❘ 星界からの使者

Strong Enemy

Description

  • Identical to the other Small Celestial Emissaries in most respects, the key difference lies in the two lethal attacks used only by this variant. While both share the same high physical defense, low health and severe weakness to bolt, fire and thrust attacks, the energy projectiles used by this type have very long range and inflict enormous arcane damage, making them far more dangerous than their bare-headed cousins. Fortunately, you'll only encounter Small Celestial Emissaries with tendrils in zones with plenty of obstacles to use as cover from their projectiles; they are highly vulnerable in close combat, so you can lure them toward you by getting their attention and then duck back into one of these safe spots to fight them up close. Throwing Knives are highly effective against these enemies; Molotovs will kill them in one hit. They can also be interrupted and staggered, but getting close enough to do so can be very difficult.

Strategy

  • Try to sneak up on them without being seen, then throw a Molotov or a couple of Throwing Knives to eliminate them before they have a chance to use their dangerous projectiles. Failing that, wait for them to finish using one of their energy attacks and advance as quickly as possible while they recover; if you're able to bring them within melee range before they attack again, hit them with thrust attacks to inflict the highest possible damage and eliminate them before they can react. Don't go out of your way to try to interrupt or stagger them, as this may take valuable time and exposes you to danger. If you want to be sure to kill them in a single hit, use Bolt Paper on a weapon with a strong thrust attack, such as the Saw Spear.

  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Celestial Emissaries have six fingers on one hand and seven on the other.
