Lost Child of Antiquity ❘ 古の落とし子

Regular Enemy

Description

  • Bat-like creatures with human heads encountered on the ramparts and roof of Cainhurst Castle. They are often perched in the distance or positioned behind obstacles, where they can't be easily seen, and will move in to attack when you pass certain points. While very slow, they also hit quite hard and can knock you down with a slow overhead slam; they can perform a combo with up to five hits, which will send you flying if the final blow connects, and will sometimes use a running grab attack which carries them forward as they execute it. They'll try to strike you with supersonic projectiles at mid range, and will also sweep a sonic blast in a forward arc when you're close to them. While these enemies can be interrupted and staggered, shooting them during any of their attacks (but outside of the interrupt timing window) will knock them onto their backs, where they'll flail about helplessly on the ground for several seconds before getting back up; this offers a prime opportunity to hit them with your strongest attacks at no risk to yourself.

Strategy

  • Regardless of whether you prefer to interrupt them or simply knock them down, the most effective strategy against these foes is to shoot them during any of their attacks and make the most of the ensuing opportunity. They are very slow, giving you plenty of time to simply strafe or quickstep behind them and stagger them with a charged R2 swing. If you aren't interested in the Bloodstone Shards they can drop, you can score an easy kill by luring them with their backs to a ledge and shooting them when they attack, causing them to fall to their deaths.

Notes

  • During Lost Child of Antiquity grab attack animation, ~50% damage can be reduced if you are repeatedly pressing buttons (mashing).
  • All enemies and bosses (except hunter enemies) have 999 frenzy resistance, despite that they are still vulnerable to such status. The only way to see it without modding is to use Shaman Bone Blade on enemy inflicting frenzy to attack others. [test video]
  • Strong Red Eyes version is on rooftop of Cainhurst Castle
  • Preset Chalice Dungeons: Pthumeru Ihyll
  • Even in Chalice Dungeons you can encounter Lost Child of Antiquity which will try to disguise as statue waiting to ambush you.
  • Lost Child of Antiquity could drop blood gems with Finestrike, Dense, Lethal and Odd primary effect in Chalice Dungeons on 1.00 game version.
