Laurence's Skull ❘ ローレンスの頭蓋

Story

Description

  • Laurence is a much more enigmatic figure, especially for a character so important. From the Beast skull in the Grand Cathedral, the PC Hunter witnesses a memory of an encounter between Laurence and Willem, in which Willem accuses the younger Laurence of betraying him. A note left on the Cathedral staircase reads: ”Place your hand on the altar's sacred covering, and inscribe Master Laurence's adage upon your flesh.” That Laurence would be revered so highly infers that he must have been a very significant figure in the Healing Church. It is well documented that the Healing Church has its roots in Byrgenwerth College. The Byrgenwerth Student Uniform states:
  • The Healing Church has its roots in Byrgenwerth, and naturally borrows heavily from its uniform design. The focus not on knowledge. or thought. but on pure pretension would surely bring Master Willem to despair, if only he knew."
  • As Laurence was revered highly by the Healing Church and betrayed Master Willem, this leads credence to the theory that Laurence was in fact one of the Church's founders, splitting from Byrgenwerth in an event that I will later describe as The Schism. [The Paleblood Hunt by “Redgrave”]

Overview

  • Laurence's Skull is placed on altar in Grand Cathedral in Cathedral Ward. You can inspect it after you defeat Vicar Amelia and look into Laurence's memory. In the cut-scene you will learn password to progress into Forbidden Woods but beware, inspecting the skull will change timezones from evening to night.

Human Laurence's Skull in DLC

  • Description: Skull of Laurence, first vicar of the Healing Church. In reality he became the first cleric beast, and his human skull only exists within the Nightmare. The skull is a symbol of Laurence's past, and what he failed to protect. He is destined to seek his skull, but even if he found it, it could never restore his memories.
  • Overview: Laurence's Skull is located on a hidden altar beneath the surgery altar in the Recovery Room; the same altar that acts as an elevator leading to the Research Hall. To reach it you will either need to enter the Recovery Room via the Balcony you can access from the 1st Floor Balcony in the Research Hall, or to access it earlier, walk onto the altar so that it goes up, and then run off before it gets too high, Once you have the skull, bring it to the Nightmare Grand Cathedral in the Hunter's Nightmare to face off against Laurence, the First Vicar.

World Changes

  • Learn the password for the door that was blocking your access to the Forbidden Woods
  • Changes time of day from evening to night

Notes

  • Lore Note in Grand Cathedral: Heir to the ritual of blood, purveyor of ministration. Place your hand on the altar's sacred covering, and inscribe Master Laurence's adage upon your flesh.
  • Miyazaki's Future Press Interview: That's meant to give you a look into the memory of Laurence, who appears in the cut-scene as well. His skull served as the start of the Healing Church itself, but it's taken the form of a twisted beast There's a lot you can imagine from that.
  • It is believed that headless form of Bloodletting Beast is Laurence and his missing head is in Grand Cathedral.
