Hunter's Dream Late Blood Moon

  • Workshop:
Return to the Hunter's Dream after defeating Mergo's Wet Nurse and you'll find that things have taken a turn for the worse, as the end of the night rapidly approaches. Although the Workshop is now ablaze, you can still enter and make use of the facilities within, and all of the tombstones outside also remain fully functional. Carry out any last minute upgrades now, and attend to any unfinished business before heeding the doll's advice and making your way to The Great Tree.
  • The Great Tree:
The gate that was once locked in the Lower Garden is now open. Head through it to reach Gehrman, who sits below The Great Tree. If you want to see the true ending to the game, make sure that you've used three One Third of Umbilical Cord items before speaking with Gehrman. No matter which outcome you choose, you'll automatically begin New Game+ upon completion, so make sure you do everything you want to do before continuing.
  • Gehrman, the First Hunter:
After talking to Gehrman for a while he'll present you with a question, and your answer will determine how the nightmare ends.

Endings

Yharnam Sunrise Yharnam Sunrise
You lived through the hunt, and saw another day.
If you choose "Submit your life" during the converastion with Gehrman, the game will come to an end without any further battles.
Honouring Wishes Honoring Wishes
Captivated by the moon presence, you pledge to watch over the hunter's dream.
Refuse Gehrman when he poses the question and you will have to face him in battle.
Childhoods Beginning Childhood's Beginning
You became an infant Great One, lifting humanity into its next childhood.
Use three One Third of Umbilical Cord item before talking to Gehrman, and then select "Refuse" when prompted. You will then face Gehrman as usual, immediately followed by the Moon Presence.

Notes

  • When you beat Gehrman or Moon Presence, immediately after you get the Blood Echoes, use a Bold Hunter's Mark. You will be at the dream without having entered a new game. If you do it too early, all that happens is that you have to fight the boss again. If you want to go to new game + eventually, just walk into the middle of the arena. However, this does not work in cooperation because your Cooperator will prevent you from using Bold Hunter's Mark.

Third Umbilical Cord ❘ 3本目のへその緒

Consumable

In-Game Description (1) Abandoned Workshop

A great relic, also known as the Cord of the Eye. Every
infant Great One has this precursor to the umbilical cord.

Every Great One loses its child, and then yearns for a surrogate. The Third Umbilical Cord precipitated the
encounter with the pale moon, which beckoned the hunters
    and conceived the hunter's dream.

Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside,
although no one remembers what that truly entails.
Note: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓

In Game Description (2) Arianna's Celestial Child

A great relic, also known as the Cord of the Eye. Every
infant Great One has this precursor to the umbilical cord.

Every Great One loses its child, and then yearns for a
surrogate, and Oedon, the formless Great One, is no
different. To think, it was corrupted blood that began this
    eldritch liaison.

Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside,
although no one remembers what that truly entails.
Note: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓

In Game Description (3) Impostor Iosefka

A great relic, also known as the Cord of the Eye. Every
infant Great One has this precursor to the umbilical cord.

Provost Willem sought the Cord in order to elevate his being
and thoughts to those of a Great One, by lining his brain
with eyes. The only choice, he knew, if man were to ever
    match Their greatness.
Note: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓

In Game Description (4) Mergo's Wet Nurse

A great relic, also known as the Cord of the Eye. Every
infant Great One has this precursor to the umbilical cord.

Every Great One loses its child, and then yearns for a
surrogate. This Cord granted Mensis audience with Mergo,
but resulted in the stillbirth of their brains.

Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside,
although no one remembers what that truly entails.
Note: The same in-game description in US & UK versions. ✓

Effects

  • There are four versions of this item, and each one has a different description. In order to get the final ending, you must use at least three of the four before speaking with Gehrman by the big tree in the Hunter's Dream at the end of the game. Remember: if you want to fight the true final boss, you need to acquire and use three of these in one playthrough.
  • Insight is inhuman knowledge and represents your awareness of the nightmare's effects. In addition to its use as a currency at the insight shop and during multiplayer, acquiring more insight provides certain benefits but also poses a few risks. High levels of Insight will decrease your Beasthood stat, and while that does mean that you will fill the Beast Gauge faster, you won't be able to reach the later damage modifiers that come with a bigger gauge. Your Frenzy resistance is also heavily dependent on how much Insight you have, and the more you have the more susceptible you will be to getting Frenzied. Some enemies and aspects of the environment will also change at particular insight thresholds, such as the Church Servants in the Cathedral Ward gaining powered-up weapons and new attacks; with extremely high insight you'll also become able to see things during the day which would otherwise only be visible when the Blood Moon is out.

Availability

  • Impostor Iosefka Quest [x1]: kill Impostor Iosefka during the Blood Moon when she has gone insane.
  • Arianna Quest [x1]: kill the Celestial Child after completing Arianna, Woman of Pleasure quest in Oedon Chapel Basement.
  • Treasure in (Main Story): Abandoned Old Workshop, on altar inside the Workshop.
  • Dropped by (Main Story): Mergo's Wet Nurse in Nightmare of Mensis.

Notes

  • To trigger true final boss [Moon Presence] of Main Story you need to consume at least three of four Third Umbilical Cords before defeating [after refusing his offer] Gehrman by the big tree in the Hunter's Dream.
  • Third Umbilical Cords don't transfer into next New Game cycle.
  • US and UK versions names are different, One Third of Umbilical Cord [US] and Third Umbilical Cord [UK].
