Motion Commands

  • Used to communicate with other players. Click the left side of touch pad to open the Gesture Menu, refer icons on the Gesture Menu, and move the controller accordingly while holding X.

  • Your character can slowly move while doing the gestures, few of them have set animation and you cannot move freely (Hunter's salutation, Respect etc.), others will stay in animation until you break them with an action (Sit Down, Pray, Make Contact etc.).

Notes

  • League Oath (Confederate): Before you can obtain this Gesture you must go to the Forbidden Woods and enter the small windmill near the lamp so that you can speak with Valtr and become a member of the League. After joining, equip the Impurity Oath Caryll Rune, and then you will need to either complete a successful co-op session with another player, or summon one of the League NPCs and defeat a boss with them to obtain a Vermin. Use the Vermin, and then return to Valtr in the Woods and he will reward you with the League Staff and this Gesture.
  • League Oath (Master): There is no way to obtain this Gesture independent of the Confederate version, so you will have to acquire that one first before you can get this version. After using five Vermin, speak with Valtr again and he will recognize you as the worthy successor that he has been searching for and you will be recognized as the Master of the League. Once that has taken place, the Confederate version of the Gesture will automatically change to this one that has a slightly different animation. Impurity Oath Caryll Rune has to be equipped for this version.
  • Gestures Glitch: There is a way to combine gestures and other animations. 1. Use any gesture, item, transform/untransform animation you like (this animation will get repeated when successful). 2. Just as the animation ends and your character goes back idle, tilt the left stick to any direction for a very tiny bit and press the button simultaneously to use another gesture or items etc. 3. If you are successful, you will witness animation (or even sound) combination. This way, you can show off things like "Deep Respect"/Crush-it-respectfully (Vermin Crush + Deep Respect); exploding Music Box (Boom Hammer L1 + Music Box); waving with Choir Bell (Choir Bell + Wave). [video]
  • It is not required to have Brain of Mensis alive, trigger to be able to get the Moon Caryll rune is dropping it into the Abyss.
  • You can attach gestures to messages by pressing L1 when composing message
  • Doll reacts to performed gestures in front of her
  • Hunter Enemies use gestures e.g. Madman's Escort claps whenever player is killed or Old Hunter Henryk roars during the fight
  • The 'make contact' gesture forms a perfect right triangle, which is very likely intended to demonstrate to the Great Ones that humans are intelligent beings. [source]
